St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room first opened its door in September of 1974 to serve the low-income elderly with a weekend meal supplement in a social and friendly atmosphere. However, the need quickly grew into a daily operation. We now serve as many as 600 hot nourishing meals a day, six days a week (Mon-Sat) year round. The only weekday the dining room is closed is July 4th. Our Thanksgiving meal usually serves 800-1000 people. Our Christmas meal serves between 700-800 people and our Easter meal serves around 600 people.
Surplus groceries and produce are also distributed. Our patrons include working and nonworking low income families, elderly, homeless, and newcomers to the area. All are welcome and treated with the utmost respect. We serve all without regard to age, sex, race, religious beliefs, national origin, or disabilities.
Although known throughout the community primarily as a volunteer run soup kitchen, St. Anthony's also provides various other services. Included are a mini-health program, Christmas presents for needy kids and a Clothing distribution center.
